I'll Look Over You.

i really like this photo. the more square format is always nice to see, as it is often more rare now in the digital age. you composed the shot very nicely and filled the frame in just a way to make interesting and intimate without being cliche or looking like a mess. the mother being almost in a side profile reminds me of the more traditional portraits of mother and child, with the mother in profile, however, the slight turn of her head allowing for just a bit more of her face (less than a 2/3 pose) that makes it really refreshing. the diffuse lighting was a very good choice and really adds a sense of mood to the photograph. the exposure is excellent. you get a variety of light values for a black and white that gives it some visual play in contrast - and the best part is you did it without any real hotspots. the viewer's eye is naturally draw to the baby by the combination of the light and exposure in the way it came out, which i think is perfect, because it gives the mother a guardian angel effect where you don't see her at first, but when you really look you find here. also a good metaphor or visual representation of a mother's love.
